Portfolio Management
Portfolio management at Ivy is a formalized and coordinated process led by a dedicated Portfolio Management Group.
Comprised of professionals with extensive hedge fund of funds experience, the portfolio management team applies a consistent,
disciplined and scalable investment process to portfolios.
Portfolio Construction
Once Ivy commits to a new mandate – whether a new product offering or a custom portfolio – the Portfolio Management
Group initiates the portfolio construction process in accordance with the established portfolio holdings and risk parameters.
In doing so, the team relies on a robust series of qualitative and quantitative inputs from across the Investments Division.
This includes utilizing a manager and strategy ranking system for the selection of managers as well as a library of internally
developed portfolio analytics to weigh the significance of strategies, sub-strategies and actual hedge fund managers
and how best they meet the portfolio’s investment objectives and related risk levels. When the portfolio management team
is satisfied with their portfolio construction recommendation, it is reviewed by the senior members of the Global Manager
Research and Portfolio Management Groups, including members of the Investment Committee before final approval.
Monitoring and Re-balancing
Equally crucial to the portfolio management process is the monitoring and re-balancing of portfolios on a regular basis.
The Portfolio Management Group tracks market performance on a daily basis and how this correlates to underlying hedge
fund managers and portfolio returns.
In coordination with the research professionals, portfolio managers together with members of the Investment Committee,
conduct formal portfolio reviews on a monthly basis to analyze performance and any investment decisions that have been made.
Additionally, the Risk Management & Quantitative Research Group produces analyses of the portfolios and individual managers
to aid in the process. All data is aggregated by the Portfolio Management Group and adjustments are made on an as needed
basis.
